Get into the spirit of the festive season this week

CBD lights up - Check out the array of stunning Christmas decorations around the CBD. Along with gigantic Christmas baubles, red spirals, Christmas angels, fairy lights and more, this year's impressive new feature is a 50m Christmas tree constructed on the famous KZ1 America's Cup yacht in the Viaduct Harbour - from 21 November.

Classical sculpture - Head to Martin Selman's solo exhibition New Zealand Sculpture from 18 November to 7 December at Parnell and see how he carves each object from Carrara marble and pays homage to the great traditions of both European and Maori carving.

Stitch work - Jump on a ferry to Waiheke Island from 21 November to 5 December to enjoy Barbara Bailey's new exhibiton Paper Pieces and see how she has swapped her paintbrushes for a sewing machine.
